University Auditing and Advisory Services’ (UAAS) mission statement supports the accomplishment of university objectives, as indicated in the first sentence of the department’s mission statement.
UAAS strives to provide consultative and value-added service, while remaining independent of operations management, and encourages operations management to understand and consider the risks associated with audit comments that may be developed during an engagement. Accordingly, audit reports provide management with examples of risk mitigation as well as recommendations to assist in the process of strengthening internal controls and implementing good business practices. UAAS also values effective communication to develop good internal client relationships and provide client service satisfaction. UAAS’s goal is to assist management’s efforts to improve operations and better protect the university and its employees and customers.
